Kazdanga manor complex (Katzdangen) has been owned by the rich and politically influential barons of Kurzeme – Manteifeļi. Kazdanga manor was built in classicism style in the beginning of 19th century by the famous west European architect J. G. Berlic.
Manor park and the millpond. The making of the park started in 19th century’s beginning as a landscape park with all kinds of walking paths and a bridge system. Currently the Kazdanga manor park is one of the biggest by size( 196 hectares) and dendrologically richest Latvian manor house parks. Two circle crosses can be found in the park – each on their own side of the millpond. There are a lot of ponds in Kazdanga manor park, because Kazdanga was the first place in tsarist Russia, where around 1870 fish-breeding was started. The millpond is also flooded on the Alokste river.
